Review of City of Men (2007) by John J — 16 Feb 2008
On as part of the Dublin International Film Festival, a spin off from the TV series which was a spin-off from the film City of God, which is one of my favourite films from the last ten years. This isn't in the same league (the director of City of God only produces here) but it's still an engrossing tale of life in Rio's favelas.
Took a bit of time to develop and sometimes the grainy/cross-processed look was more irritating than interesting, but still a really good movie.
