Review of City of Gold (2016) by Joan R — 19 Mar 2016
LA food critic is alive to the world around him, and we experience LA and its diverse food and restaurant scene through his eyes. His work shows us what it looks like to love good food and the beautiful people who make it, and it helps capture what is unique and remarkable about the City of Angels in a way that is rarely shown on film.
If "Knight of Cups" points to the vapidness of certain LA culture, this film points to the richness of another side of LA that only can be seen if our eyes are as open as Gold's. Warning: don't go to this film hungry.
