Review of Christiane F. (1981) by Ryan D — 10 Jan 2015
I read the book like 12 or 13 years ago so my memory of it is a little fuzzy as to how good an adaptation it actually is. As a stand alone piece it is a strong bit of drama - heart wrenching and harrowing and hopeless.
A realistic depiction of Heroin addiction that makes the anti-heroin ads of the early 80's seem like the Magic Roundabout held together by a brilliant performance from the then 13 year old Natja Brunckhorst.
Plus it features the most brutally truthful cold-turkey scene i've ever watched.
