Review of Chop Suey (2001) by Mike M — 23 Jun 2008
Weber is uniquely capable of finding beauty and interest in all his subjects: entertainer Frances Faye, jujitsu champ Rickson Gracie, soldiers departing for Vietnam, a family of surfers, in supermodels and Sir Wilfred Thesiger, naked men and elephants alike.
Keep an open mind, and it's possible to glean a fair bit about a lot of people (not least the personal and professional peccadilloes of the filmmaker himself); it's almost certainly the only film in cinema history to bring together Robert Mitchum, "Airwolf"'s Jan-Michael Vincent and Hoots the Poodle.
