Review of Chocolat (2016) by Fk P — 02 Jul 2017
An incredible story that never holds a dull moment. Very sad in hindsight, but the effectiveness of film's emotion, together with the high-quality performances, gives this film a bittersweet aftertaste.
It's impressive in its stunts, performances and bravery. It's beautiful to just look at. The story leaves you with a heavy heart. But it's a story that the world needs to see. I've a soft spot for films about artist's and their art.
This film rises to the top of them all. I don't know if it's because it's a French film, or simply because it's art created by talented and passionate people, but this movie will leave you smiling with tears in your eyes.
A little sad. A little happy. And very much overjoyed that you finally know the story of Rafael Padilla and his life as the clown Chocolat.
