Review of Children Underground (2001) by Erik F — 31 Jul 2008
I have seen close to 2,000 films in my life, and about 25 of those would be considered truly disturbing. This ranks in the top three.
It documents Romanian dictator Ceausecu's decision to ban contraception and abortion to increase the country's work force (see movie stats), and all the ramifications that come from that decision completely collapsing. It settles on all the children essentially left behind and abandoned, and its about as depressing as any film I have ever seen. I rarely cry during films, but I did through this.......almost entirely. Not for the faint of heart.
