Review of Children of the Night (1991) by Jon C — 10 Oct 2017
A very goofy affair but still fun.
A horror film that mixes in some laughs, some heart on occasion, and some pretty grotesque practical effects.
Full of 90's cheese and some bad acting but moves at a very quick pace.
Two female teenage friends decide to explore an abandoned church to test their bravery but they accidentally awaken an ancient vampire from his slumber and his reign of terror begins to take over the town.
A priest harbors two victims turned at his home and calls a teacher for help on the situation.
From then on it's up to him, the 2nd girl who made it out alive, and a drunken resident to combat this supernatural threat from spreading.
Plus this girl's virgin blood is what the master vampire craves the most.
A lot of what happens here is just so damn silly to be taken seriously but I think that's part of the fun.
Plus the grisly special effects are not a bad touch.
It never lets up and I guess that's part of the film's charm to be enjoyed.
A horror film that's pretty ridiculous but entertaining.
