Not as bad as some reviews would have you believe. Franco's directing is top tier, almost as good as the completely overlooked As I Lay Dying adaption from last year. Scott Haze and Tim Blake Nelson absolutely command the screen; even if the plot is quite lackluster, the character of Ballard is unbelievable to watch.
