It's pretty important to the development of Italian gothic horror movies of the 1960s. Antonio Margheriti did in only 2 weeks. What's kin dof funny is that it claims to be based on an Edgar Allen Poe story called Danse Macabre, but no such story exits.
Edgar Allen Poe is in it as a character, though. In the early 1970s, Margheritit remade this movie as Web of the Spider. An infierior version with Klaus Kinski as Poe.
