Review of Carve Her Name with Pride (1958) by Sam B — 02 May 2008
This movie is simply amazing. It tells the story of a London shopgirl called Violette Bushell whose normal life changes drastically when her husband, who is a French soldier, gets killed in action. Violette shows great bravery and courage.
The acting is amazing especially Virginia McKenna and Billie Whitelaw.
The Life That I Have.
The life that I have.
Is all that I have.
And the life that I have.
Is yours.
The love that I have.
Of the life that I have.
Is yours and yours and yours.
A sleep I shall have.
A rest I shall have.
Yet death will be but a pause.
For the peace of my years.
In the long green grass.
Will be yours and yours and yours.
Get your tissues ready.
