Review of Carandiru (2003) by Julia M — 26 May 2007
Violent prison flick that had an excellent storyline. Carandiru was shot really well and had some very interesting characters. The film dealt with issues such as murder, drugs, and the spreading of AIDS.
What was really impressive was the reconstruction of the 1992 Carandiru riot that killed 111 inmates. The scene was very realistic and emotional. A classic film from Hector Babenco.
