Review of Capote (2005) by Trailesque — 16 Mar 2018
A solid account of the story behind one of the most influential books of its time, In Cold Blood. Hoffman is excellent in the title role, showing us both the gay writer's vulnerabilities and his ability to manipulate others.
Aided by his lifelong buddy Harper Lee, Capote set out to tell the story of the horrible murder of a Kansas farm family by a couple of no-good drifters. At its heart this is a complex cat and mouse game between Capote, posing as a good samaritan but trying to nail the juiciest story he can, and the very intelligent sociopath/loser Perry Smith (well played by Clifton Collins Jr.
