Review of Cameraman: The Life and Work of Jack Cardiff (2010) by Dustin G — 20 Aug 2011
A loving, well made tribute to one of the master cameramen in the history of film. Features clips from many of the films Cardiff worked on and directed, as well as a brief history of his life and interviews with the man himself. Cardiff is a sweet, humble man and to hear his 90+ year old mind recall details of decades past is a treat and is always fascinating. Also features remembrances and tributes from the likes of Scorsese, Kirk Douglas, Thelma Shoonmaker, Michael Powell and many more.
I had never heard of Jack Cardiff before this film, but this is a man who is a vital part of cinema's history and a man who deserves to be remembered for as long as movies are made.
