Review of Bronson (2009) by Drew M — 14 Nov 2013
This movie is dark. And I say that in the best way possible.
I find this movie to be practically a masterpiece. Black comedy, and this is a very chilling movie. It is just brutal, but still a sophisticated piece of cinema. The directing is great and the music... damn, I LOVE the music in this movie. Nevertheless, this movie is not for everyone, especially if you don't have a whole lot of patients or a weak stomache, but this film is beautiful.
Now for Tom Hardy... words can't even describe how great I thought his performance was. He was completely in character and did such an incredible job at being a sadistic, crazy, emotional train wreck that is Charles Bronson. The monolouges that advance the story are perfect and this is probably Tom Hardy's best performance to date, in my opinion.
From the first shot with the song at the beginning I knew I was in for a dark, chilling, but beautiful ride. That's what I got.
