Review of Broken Flowers (2005) by Scott M — 12 Mar 2011
A terrific performance from Bill Murray and a poetically poignant script from Jim Jarmusch make this one to remember. Murray, as an aging playboy revisiting his past, has never been better, showing the world that despite being a talented comedic actor he's a just as talented dramatic actor.
Best of all is that Jarmusch has never felt the need to spell things out for his audience, and this film is no exception. What's important is not the mystery, but how the mystery affects Murray's character, and the ending provides the perfect thematic conclusion.
