Review of Bright Star (2009) by Cristina P — 31 Jan 2010
After failing to watch Bright Star during 2009 Toronto Film Festival, due to the enourmous acceptance from the public, I'm now deeply compensated for waiting so I felt free to soak myself in tears and wipe them at ease, privately.
It has Jane Campion's watermarks all over, from the art direction, to the love triangle. She directs her own script, even the textures in the fabrics.
Glorious sets and intimacy for the visual story-telling of the many aspects of the love story of John Keats and Fanny Brawne, interpreted by Ben Whishaw and brilliant Abbie Cornish.
This is a feast for all who feel the passion for poetry, and romantic poetry in particular.
As you can see, I liked it very much.
