Review of Brave (2012) by David L — 25 Dec 2014
The lackluster reviews on this one as mostly being pretty but average confuse me, particularly having just watched it after the craze that was Frozen. I dunno what fairy tale everyone keeps saying this is rehashing.
... yes the rebellious princess is not a new concept... the fact that she's rebelling, finding, and keeping her happiness without it revolving around or resolving in romantic love isn't seen so often in Disney.
If ever. Two present, living and loving parents is a novelty for the genre. Everything about this movie was beautiful with the possible exception of the fishing scene cause I'm psychotic about animals.
But really, the fact that this rebellious princess came out with stronger family bonds and a bigger understanding of each other is precisely the kind of thing I'd want my kids watching, and I enjoyed it too.
