Review of Boyhood (2014) by Robert B — 12 Jan 2016
This is one of those standalone movies that don't REALLY fit into a lot of genres - just because it's a little bit of a challenge to the form. Linklater really ups his own ante, where a lot of his past films explore the same themes of maturity and growing up and dealing with external influences (all present in Dazed And Confused for one) in this one it's incredible the effect of seeing all this happen to a single person as they ACTUALLY grow up.
after it was over, I felt like I couldn't quite process the experience, but the more I thought on it the more I realized the development of Mason and how affected and important his upbringing was to his character actually growing up.
I DEFINITELY want to re-watch A LOT. such an interesting film that brings up a lot about the humanity in everyone.
