Review of Blue Valentine (2010) by Tyree G — 16 Feb 2014

Ryan Gosling (Dean) and Michelle Williams (Cindy) acted beautifully together and were believable falling both in and out of love. I don't think anything was missing here. Both characters were flawed, as people are, and their quirks both brought them together and tore them apart.

Dean was blindly passionate--young Dean romantically propose to a pregnant Cindy whom he barely knew. Older Dean was smothering even when Cindy clearly needed room to breath. Cindy was a more reserved person, which played as "hard to get" in their courtship, but made her cold and shit off as their relationship failed.
