Starts quietly and builds up at a suspenseful and atmospheric pace,. Blue Ruin is brilliantly directed, written and photographed by mostly newcomer Jeremy Saulnier, with a phenomenal performance from (also newcomer) Macon Blair.
A breath of fresh air in the revenge genre, that strips away all the cliches and heavy handness of most of them.
