Review of Bloodbath at the House of Death (1984) by Wayne Z — 25 Aug 2008
(Strange that Flixster have chosen to illustrate this film with the old THORN EMI pre-cert cover). Nothing like 'SCARY MOVIE' so ignore that. There is NO WAY this movie was made in 1989 so ignore that too (it was actually released in March 1984).
The 4 best things about this film are 1. Kenny Everett - who was a (today much under-rated) comic legend 2.spotting all the references and pastiches of famous sci-fi and horror films of the time (such as Alien, Carrie, Star Wars, E.
T, The Abominable Dr Phibes, Poltergeist etc.) 3. Vincent Price who plays a kind of comic version of his horror self and 4. The very sexy (but apparently snooty) Pamela Stephenson. The DVD re-issue of this film by Nucleus looks amazing - like it was shot yesterday.
