Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by Albaab R — 22 Aug 2018
Just like it's predecessor, I predict this movie's following will grow in time to consider it a classic masterpiece in visual storytelling. Every frame is crafted to deliver the director's vision with pin-point accuracy.
The actor interactions between Ford and Gosling are marvellous and every character design is just a hypnotic fascinating watch. The storyline is a bit of a meh - it's not the story but it's telling that was important.
It's a self-contained story with no pandering to sequels or 'extended universe' bullshit. Probably the best most respectful sequel to a classic movie to date. Watch it alone, on a big screen with headphones or surround sound on.
This is a contemplative, solo movie watch experience that you can ponder over afterwards. Must watch for lovers of cinema and sci-fi.
