Review of Black Friday (2004) by Tori D — 30 Apr 2009
Black Friday (1940) -- [4.0] -- Karloff and Lugosi are out of makeup in this tediously predictable revenge tale. Karloff puts the brain of a dying thug into the body of his brain-dead friend, just so he can find out where the thug hid five hundred thousand dollars.
How a brain transplant could also result in a physical transformation, I'll never know. Half the movie is spent watching the thug hunt down his former partners, and a lot of the story's forward thrust comes in the form of pretentious voiceover.
Production value is higher than most Karloff/Lugosi films, but it's wasted on a laughable and boring storyline.
