Review of Black Book (2006) by Carla P — 08 Jul 2008
It's WWII, you're Jewish, and your family has just been recently been assassinated as you attempted to flee Holland's turmoil to Belgium's safety. What do you do? For Carice van Houten's character, Ellis de Vries, the answer is complex.
She not only returns home to join the resistance, but then lets her heart be swept away by a mild-mannered German officer, Ludwig Muntze, portrayed by Sebastian Koch. Everyone plays their roles to perfection, specially van Houten.
An outstanding Dutch production all around.
