Review of Birth (2004) by Ryan O — 27 Apr 2008
Please don't be silly, don't say it's a movie about pedophilia. It's about love. Mr. Glazer managed to create one of the subtlest, beautifully shot, deeply psychological and, yes, very uncomfortable portraits of the woman, who can't forget her love and is still grieving, and a little game started by this boy leads her to confuse, then to hope, then to dissappointment and very dramatic finale.
It is a very complicated movie, not only because of very insightful scenario, but mainly because of absolutely stunning acting by Nicole Kidman, who portrays her Anna like she's very real and very human person, and when you start to think why she acts in this situation in such strange, weird way, you just have to watch her closely: this woman is overwhelmed with almost forgotten emotions.
She acts like every adult man or woman who expirienced an extreme love and loss and now had to deal with it.
