Review of Birth (1984) by Juan N — 15 Nov 2007
Gorgeous Kubrickian chamber piece showcases splendid performances, especially by Kidman. Emotions are allowed to simmer in a stately fashion under the oppressive silence - but like Ebert pointed out, the situation is treated in exactly the way these people - intelligent, rich, skeptical - would treat it.
Works best when you ask yourself: "how would I react to this same situation?" The answer will shock you.
