Review of Bird (1988) by Lauri L — 13 Aug 2009
Bird is biographical movie of Charlie Parker. Scenes are set up beautifully and Forest Whittaker as the rest of the crew makes best out of what director gives them. The scenes fall empty one after one another as Clint Eastwood does not know directorial means to get inside the psyche or mindset of these people or how to convey it.
The acting from time to time seems to suggest Eastwood has given specific directions on acting - it is as if he actually is not able to create circumstances where little details actors do would fall naturally and convey me as a viewer that the person I am looking at is real.
