Review of Bickford Shmeckler's Cool Ideas (2006) by Claire B — 13 Feb 2009

Honestly one of the better things I've seen from Patrick Fugit although it still falls short of anything epic or even cult classic status. While the movie most definitely has its funny spots, I was mostly annoyed by the dumbing down of the characters in the film and not the actual plot. And while Schmeckler himself isn't so bad, everyone else pretty much sucks (minus the gay friend), and for that the movie was mediocre for me. No doubt some college guy thinks this is the greatest movie ever. But come on... why are film makers wasting their time on this stuff?

And one last note, why is the ultimate prize at the end the beautiful blonde girl who he knows to be both a pot head and a slut? Why is a girl that sleeps around in any way 'cool' to have as a girlfriend? I have got to be missing something.
