Review of Better Watch Out (2017) by Garry A — 06 Oct 2017
Every so often, a film comes from nowhere, that you've read or heard nothing about, and you just rent on a whim, based on the two sentence plot description on iTunes, and it ends up blowing you away. That was the case, for me, with 'Better Watch Out'.
One of my favourite sub-genres in the horror category would be the home-invasion movie, be it the straightforward 'The Strangers', through the whole-heartedly perverse, as with À l'intérieur, to those that play loose with the tropes somewhat eg, 'You're Next', but I don't think I've seen one that takes the direction 'Better Watch Out' does.
Without saying too much more, as someone who has seen nearly every example of the genre, it takes a lot for me to watch one of these flicks and not be able to see every scene play-out in advance. So, go in blind, don't watch any trailers, read nothing and I guarantee you won't see it coming.
