Review of Berberian Sound Studio (2012) by Rohan L — 16 Dec 2013
An amazingly and atmospheric surreal experience with a brilliant meta-ficcional twist that does a great job at paying homage to the 70's italian horror cinema while subverting it's rules every step of the way.
A movie that stays with you long after you have finished watching it. The more it plays on your head the more powerfull and stimulating it will appear. The end is somewhat open to interpretation, but I have made mine.
SPOILERS: With the risk of ruining anything, I will say that I believe it to be a movie within a movie within yet another movie in which the unsuspected sound engineer is the star of a psychological cinematic documentary experience without his knowledge or consent.
