Review of Being John Malkovich (1999) by Dylan R — 12 Jan 2012
Brilliantly unique, with superb wit and ingenuity. It refrains from traditional movie cliches and surprises at every turn. It is incredibly humorous, but, unlike most modern comedies, the humor is deeply intertwined with the plot and the storytelling, and is not at all just superficial.
This allows the movie to be complete, without single minded devotion to one mode of story telling and/or emotional appeal. A must-see and one of the best films of its time. Worthy of multiple views.
