It's honestly a tragedy that this movie's release was as hamstrung by Relativity Media's bankruptcy as it was, because if "Before I Wake" proves anything, it's that Mike Flanagan continues to be one of the horror genre's foremost in creative thinkers and directors.
From the undeniably captivating premise, to the genuinely terrifying subject matter, or the film's immensely satisfying climax, there's a whole lot to enjoy. Definitely one for the "underrated" category, that's for sure.
