Review of Beautiful Boxer (2003) by Alex G — 05 Jul 2007
This film bleeds beauty. A purging journey of the true life of Nong Toom, Thailand's kickboxer who desires the effeminate life. My favorite Thai film; for its all-around brilliance concerning mood, cinematography, choreography, acting, editing, etc, really the title word really defines every facet of this film, beautiful.
One might disagree with the central concept of this film, but the strict message of dreams and self-respect is definitely universal. Also, I'm simply astonished by the acting of Asanee Suwan, and the fact that he himself is a real kickboxer turned actor.
In my opinion, a flawless film and highly recommended.
