Review of Beatriz at Dinner (2017) by Benjamin K — 17 Mar 2018
This is a jewel of a film worthy ow study and an insult to be considered a comedy. Beatriz is first presented as. a saint and lLithgow as a devil. Toward the end, Beatriz discovers the evil within her own tears and thoughts, while Lithgow remains true to a philosophy of forbearance and enjoyment of life.
One is reminded of Alan Watts and Buddhist sages:: there is nothing to be done about the evils of the world except to recognize them and lean toward the light. This is not a comedy: it''s a life lesson.
