This movie perfectly captures the graphic novel "the killing joke" and it's as simple as if you don't like the movie you didn't like the novel. People complaint about the Batman and Batgirl relationship need to pick up more comics.
Batgirl and Batman have had MANY relations together through it the comics and animated series. You just need to pay close attention.
