Review of Batman: Assault on Arkham (2014) by Ian R — 21 Sep 2014
I really enjoyed this film, with the exception of one glaringly illogical bit that got thrown in the middle. The action was fast, intense, and creative. The focus on the Suicide Squad instead of Batman was great! I really enjoyed Harley Quinn's portrayal in this film.
She was crazy and funny, and yet supported serious character moments throughout the film. I thought Deadshot was played with much less of a deathwish than I'm used to from the comics; he was a much calmer character than I am used to, but they needed to have that on the Suicide Squad team.
I felt the mixed some Rick Flag into Deadshot to balance out the team. I liked all the flourishes from the video game franchise it's based on, all of the sets and character designs they used. If not for the Batman/Black Spider bit in the middle, which was not thought out or executed well, I would say this film was darn near perfect in meeting my hopes for it.
