Review of Barton Fink (1991) by Brandon E — 23 Jul 2009
This is one of the Coen brothers unforgettable films... Or, at least I'll never forget about it. To dub this film as a comedy is complete and total missjustice (I think I giggled three times), it's a harrowing film to me, something that alienates the human spirit.
The images are beautiful, and the score that Carter Burwell composed is brilliant. John Goodman's performance as Charlie should have earned him so many more awards, and all other performances were haunting as well.
This film works as a dream, and the surreal aspects are so very Lynchian. Barton Fink is my favorite Coen brothers film, that's for damn sure!
