Review of Bart Got a Room (2008) by Aj S — 28 Jun 2010
A very funny little indie comedy. Using the surroundings of South Florida,in the heavy elder Jewish community, a teen tries to find that perfect date to the high school prom after learning the infamous nerd Bart got a date AND a room.
His quest leads him with the not so much help from his divorced parents, his lazy best friend, and a girl he's been friends with all his life. You'd think at first that you know exactly how the movie will end, but it takes a different approach in this familiar setting.
The movie is very relatable, and I like it when the audience can relate perfectly well with its on screen characters. At times, the movie will fall a bit flat in certain areas, but in the areas it has it's strengths (like every William H.
Macy scene there is), the movie is worth the viewing. Plus, I just love how the old Jewish community sterotypes are captured in this movie, PERFECT in my oppinion.
