Review of Bad Lieutenant (1992) by Steven R — 21 Apr 2008
One of the most powerful - and disturbing - films that I have ever seen. The message of redemption comes in loud and clear. This film contains one of the most heartbreakingly powerful scenes of forgiveness ever. This is Harvey Keitel's best performance.
While I loved this film for it's powerful message and themes, it is simply not for sensitive viewers. It is extremely graphic in it's depictions of rape, drug use, and moral depravity, and is definitely not for the squeamish.
This is a film that I would love to recommend it to everyone for it's strong depicition of forgiveness, but simply cannot, because I feel that many would not be able to look past the necessarily gritty content and find the deeper meaning within.
