Review of Archipelago (2011) by Paolo R — 24 Mar 2011
The discreet despair of the bourgeoisie - the banality and obsessions of the English middle-classes writ large, this is all about what is not said... and the repurcussions of what is said. All very English.
.. my Italian family would never be this quiet or repressed. The frustrations are there on the screen, and the air of anxiety is definitely transmitted to the audience. A bit like 127 hours, without the release of the final arm-cutting moments.
