I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It kind of reminded me when Julian Lennon first became a hit with his album that sounded eerily like his dad. I had the same sensation watching this. It was just like I had stumbled across a David Cronenberg movie from the late 1970's. The tone, the sterility, the story all classic Cronenberg. Syd's relationship to his machine is even a bit like Bill's relationship to his typewriter in Naked Lunch.

The story is very current. As celebrity replaces any real talent (we never know what Hannah Geist is famous for other than being Hannah Geist) and celebrity then usurps religion. Like any great true science fiction story (Soylent Green for example) they've taken a current facet of our culture and blown it into a proportion that it could become.

I will try not to spoil anything, but recommend this to anyone who loves Videodrome, Rabid, or They Came from Within.
