Review of Angrej (2015) by Anubhav S — 28 May 2016
Pure, unadulterated pre-division Punjabi culture depiction. Great cinematography, modern beats for Indian folk songs and much more. This movie has mirrored Indian culture of past and even today's villages completely.
This is one movie you can watch any time again and you'll feel closer to Punjabi culture every time.
The intricate and subtle connections and transactions in Indian villages and it's traditions are expertly put into screenplay and character interactions. Take example of when Angrej's father orders him to feed Cattle and how Angrej's father is still afraid of his own father, Angrej's grandfather. It's still so true in northern indian villages.
It's just one of the awesome movies that comes out once in a while. If you're interested or invested in Punjabi culture, do watch it.
