Review of An Evening of Edgar Allan Poe (1970) by Brett B — 15 Sep 2012
Vincent Price does bravura work here (sometimes subtle and haunting, other times fantastically unhinged), and the "One Man Show" format suits him incredibly well. His talents as a storyteller are put to marvelous use, and with the aid of only minimal set dressing, lighting, and sound effects, he conjures up some mightily chilling atmosphere.
Most copies of this TV production (including the one available on DVD) aren't in the greatest of quality, but it is well worth tracking down to enjoy Price basking in Poe's wonderful and macabre prose.
