Review of Amores Perros (2000) by Marie H — 19 Nov 2008
Beautiful... Nobody can top Inarritu in the 'epic-car-crash-that-ties-everyone-together' catergory. Stepping back, all three of his films follow the same rough outline, but if you want to see where it all started, this is it.
So is it Love's A Bitch or Must Love Dogs? Wait, Must Love Dogs is that Diane Lane John Cusack one. Either way, the subtitles are easily digestable and the three story destined for intertwine-icity grip you and move you.
Gael Bernal is still mezmorizing to me; this is only my third film I've seen him in, and I know I could see him in anything. It's sad, it's epic, and it's well done. Inarittu hasn't slipped up yet.
Par for par, star for star.
