Review of Amores Perros (2000) by Octavio M — 20 Feb 2009
For the sane person who truly loves the cinema what what it is, this is the film for them. When I'm reading these reviews below mine, that some people do not truly understand the film, mainly because people believe that this film feature the brutalization of dogs. First off, they did noot actually hurt the dogs, THEY'RE CALLED DOG ACTORS AND CLEVER EDITING YOU MORONS!!!!! Good, now that I've cleared that up, I can move on with the review.
First off, what made this film unique was Inaritu's use of themes, evocative themes. The use of two versions of a modern-day Cain and Abel story, and two versions of a father getting away from his children and a father that abondoned his child, but wants to come back into their lives. It's a film about disapointment, uncontrollable impulses, volitile relationshiips, and misinterpretations of the human condition.
