A stunning, thrilling, dizzying descent into Mexico City's seething underworld. Dense, intense and absolutely brilliant - Inarritu hasn't even come close to topping this in his follow-on films - unsurpirising since this spearheaded, and inspired, a new Latin American cinema that has proven to be as exciting and vibrant as that from anywhere else in the world.
