Review of Amadeus (1984) by Liolia K — 04 Aug 2010
Sublime!
The performances are amazing, specially Abraham's. The music is not just standing there, it's another character by itself, and being able to achieve that so effectively is what really makes this movie grand. The script is effective, with both fast and slow paces, and really develops each character correctly. The dark tones of the film contrast amazingly with Mozart (Hulce)'s silly laugh. Yet, the big champion of the film is, without a doubt, Milos Forman, for being able to create a funny and entretaining, yet dark, biopic about one of the most popular classic composers ever, and bringing his music back to life through celluloid.
