Review of Alphabet City (1984) by Matthew M — 27 Dec 2008
A weird movie by the direction of Amos Poe. I mean the guy has random close ups of a guy zipping up his fly lol. Its quite funny some of the shots he takes and the fast motion jarring almost jump cuts.
In all the movie is not really good for one main reason the character is not likable at all. He comes across as being kind of weird to have chosen this life which we have no idea why and now he hates it.
It starts off in the middle of things instead of giving us a reason why we should like him. The acting isn't the worst I have seen but the stunt double at the end was hilarious. Also Michael Winslow is really weird in this and only does like one sound effect and it is not very good.
I would not recommend this movie but then again the shoot out at the end is really funny and poorly executed so you might get a laugh or two out of that.
