Review of All That Glitters (2010) by Mike V — 14 Feb 2011
At the start of this movie, the two main characters seemed so irredeemably self-absorbed and amoral that it was hard to care much about them or their friendship. It was only at about the halfway mark that the film seemed to promise a more interesting development in the relationship between the women, but it is a promise that the film ultimately did not deliver on, and the resolution seemed pat and to me not particularly satisfying.
There were comic moments, and some of the secondary characters, including their friend Carole, were often interesting and entertaining. To the extent that the movie was aiming for heart warming, it only partly succeeded, but then again, I am not one of those who thinks that the stiffing of cab drivers is particularly heart warming.
