Review of All Over Me (1997) by Jennifer L — 30 May 2007
Nicely-judged and well-acted lesbian coming-of-age story. Pleasantly bereft of the histrionics of TV shows dealing with similar subjects, this keeps it lo-fi like a lot of American independent cinema of the era, with an excellent riot grrrl soundtrack.
It's the relationships between the central female (and two gay male) characters which are the core of the film; the abusive boyfriend character verges on stereotype at times. This is really very good, with an upbeat conclusion.
